Sacramental Preparation

"The most effective catechetical program for adolescents are integrated into a comprehensive program of pastoral ministry for youth that includes catechesis, community life, evangelization, justice and service, leadership development, pastoral care, and prayer and worship. Such programs aim to empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today; to draw young people to responsible participation in the life, mission, and work of the Catholic faith community; and to foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person."

(National Directory for Catechesis, p. 201)

First Penance and First Communion

These Sacraments are received after 2 years of formal Faith Formation, usually in the second grade.  This preparation program runs parallel to our Faith Formation program and is parent taught. Families will attend 2 retreats during the preparation year.

Confirmation

Confirmation Preparation begins in the summer before 7th grade and candidates receive the sacrament in the fall of their freshman year of high school. The first year (7th grade) is focused on service to the parish and community. The second year service work continues and the formal Confirmation formation program is introduced. Confirmation is usually celebrated the first weekend in October.
